I’m taking Japanese Language and Culture this semester and after only the first class I’m equally overwhelmed and intrigued. Maybe by the end of the semester I’ll be able to share a little of what I’ve learned via a vlog…

I’ve been searching for activities to do with my 2 1/2 – 3 year olds at the preschool. I’m searching for very hands-on activities to fill our time together that they will truly enjoy. If you have any ideas please send them my way!

I’m thankful for coffee. It truly puts an extra pep in my step as I walk to my 7:45am and 8am classes.

My weekend was so refreshing after the first week of classes…

Friday: Watching Gilmore girls with the roomies.

Saturday: Lunch date with a close friend at the quaintest sandwich shop. Then studying and hanging out with another close friend. Spent the evening watching Leap Year and working on homework.

Sunday: Church…challenging and life-giving morning. Skype date with Jasmine who is currently in London. Watched Downton Abbey.

When I was at the grocery store last week, the only coffee creamers they had out were seasonal editions. So, I chose the s’mores coffee creamer. It was such a good choice and I’ve been reminded of that every single morning. If this isn’t considered miscellaneous I don’t know what is…

My mom and I decided that we’re going to go to Biltmore in Asheville, North Carolina for the day in December when it's all decorated for Christmas. We went as a family when I was little, but I’m excited to go back now as a young adult. Plus, I always love our mother daughter trips.

I think it’s the season of engagements. So many girls around campus now seem to have a diamond ring on their left hand. Craziness I tell you.

 

P.S. Did you see that Jenna got engaged as well?! You should go show her some love here. Afterward, be sure to spend some time looking around her blog. She’s one of my favorites.

I’m pulling out the coat and scarves this week. It’s getting rather chilly in Tennessee and I’ll be making sure my coffee is extra hot in the mornings.

I’ve started to listen to Christmas music already. It made me smile to hear those familiar melodies.

Speaking of music, you need to go download Johnnyswim's new song, Make. And if you haven’t downloaded their album, Home, yet you must get that as well! Both are free I might add. Their voices are incredible.

Please tell me you watched the Georgia/Florida game on Saturday!?!? Such a good game. Although, watching it all by myself made me miss being home so much. Even though I was born and raised in Tallahassee, Florida (home of the Florida State Seminoles) my family has always pledged our devotion to Georgia. And on Saturday, Georgia defeated the Florida Gators! GO DAWGS!

 

I realize how cheesy this is, but it captures a small glimpse of the excitement I felt while watching the game. Plus, it gives you another picture of the “real me.” Ha!

Miscellaneous Monday

Homemade chai tea lattes are the best and so easy to make. If you’re a fan of chai tea, I definitely recommend checking these out!

I actually like getting up early for my 7:45 am and 8 am classes. Being out and about on campus before most students even wake up is peaceful. Plus, it helps that I’m asleep most nights by 11:30.

While I avoided working on my review for Foundations of Western Culture I created a few sample class newsletters. I’m such a (future) teacher nerd. I know that I’m only a sophomore, but my mind is constantly geared toward my future classroom. Would you be interested in hearing about a few of the things that I can’t wait to implement in my future classroom??

I had the best afternoon with the three year olds at work on Friday. They were all so helpful and followed directions quickly which makes for a happy “teacher.” Plus, it was glorious outside so we stayed outside on the playground for a little extra time.

Skype dates are fun. Especially when taking a break from studying (blog world meet my friend Jasmine!).

{six}

My Friday night consisted of frozen yogurt and watching Gilmore girls with my sweet friends. I adore nights like that.

I’m so glad the first week of classes is over. Although, I enjoyed my classes the week d-r-a-g-g-e-d by so slowly. My favorites so far are Theology and Foundations of Early Childhood Education.

I listened to Brooke Fraser and The Civil Wars a lot this weekend.Also, if you haven’t listened to Of Monsters and Men yet, you need to! They’ve been on repeat all summer.

Since my mom retired this year, I didn’t get to help set up her classroom. I really miss it! But, in three years she will spend lots of time in my classroom helping me. It’s the little things that make my (future) teacher heart happy!

{four}

I had the best laid back Saturday. I slept in and woke up slowly as I drank coffee and read in Galatians. Then, I spent the entire afternoon with my sweet friends at their apartment. We did a little homework and just enjoyed being together. We ended the day by making dinner together…spinach quesadillas, sweet plantains, and fresh squeezed limeade.

I’m writing this post early (it’s Sunday night). As I write, I’m watching a tribute to the best songs of 1960s on television. So far, The Supremes, Rolling Stones, Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Mamas & The Papas and The Beatles have made appearances. We danced in the kitchen to a few of the hits…

I move back to school this Saturday. I’ve had a wonderful summer, but I’m ready to start a new semester. I have so much excitement and expectancy in my heart! Plus, it means I’m one year closer to being a teacher.

I’ve been in a reading funk since I finished reading Little Bee. I usually always have a book on my nightstand, but I haven’t for the past week. Any book suggestions?

Have you listened to Anthem Lights yet?  It sounds cheesy to say, but their voices make me melt. They did an acoustic cover of Demi Lovato’s “Give Your Heart a Break” and it’s just so so good.

This time next Monday I'll be sitting in my 8 am Theology class.

The weather was GORGEOUS this weekend. It rained Friday night which ushered in cooler temperatures. I spent lots of time in the rocking chairs on the front porch. On Saturday night, my mom and I grabbed throw blankets and just sat and talked and looked at the stars.

Who would have thought I'd have The Beatles and Anthem lights in the same post? Ha!
